 ALPITEC 2006
Industry Meeting in Bolzano

ALPITEC 2006 The two winter tradeshows, ALPITEC and ProWinter, will be offering unusually broad opportunities for information in Bolzano in April 2006 in a new, unique form. For the first time ever, two equal tradeshows will be held together for the most important sectors of, on one hand, mountain and winter technology and, on the other hand, mountain and winter tourism, thus in keeping with the practice of an integrated presentation of information.

Complete Technology
With the new arrangement, Alpitec, which was founded in 1997, will now be held every two years in parallel with the annual Bolzano-sponsored tradeshow ProWinter. It represents an independent event that will take place with a clear spatial division on a total of 7,000 square meters (75,000 square feet) within the modern infrastructure of the Bolzano Exhibition Center. A new stand framework for it has accommodated widely varied requirements. Doing without extensive showy stands with more logistically extravagant large-scale technology eases the internationally strained budgets of the multinational organizations; at the same time, smaller suppliers get the chance to present their innovations right in the midst of the main events, not just along the less frequented side corridors.
With a total of more than 120 exhibitors – many of whom will be exhibiting in Bolzano for the first time – Alpitec 2006 offers a representative overview of current trends and tendencies in mountain and winter technology. In addition to ski run and cross country ski trail grooming, which is represented by large equipment full liners and numerous suppliers of work and sport snowmobiles and all-wheel-drive vehicles, another main focus of Alpitec 2006 will be snowmaking equipment. All current technologies will be represented here by suppliers of systems and components whose program is supplemented by manufacturers of provision and control solutions as well as weather sensor technology.
From integrated systems for guest management to economical solutions for small and medium-scale operations, the admissions systems sector offers a comprehensive selection that is rounded out by ticket counter facilities designed for ski areas. In the area of ski lift facilities, the main focus is not only on the classic cable car and chair lift technology, but also once again on flexible small lift or conveyor belt solutions. Primarily because of their use in ski instruction operations, this will be an especially apparent interface to the target public of the adjoining ProWinter event.

Additional sectors in which this duo of tradeshows provides a particularly broad selection are of course represented by ski service, user-friendly storage systems, and equipment for ski slope safety and guest information.

Detailed exhibitor information may be found at www.alpitec.it .

Informative Framework
The accompanying schedule with Alpitec/ProWinter includes interesting points of contrast and exciting highlights, both with the events at the ProWinter Forum immediately adjacent to the exhibition area and with the public symposia within the framework of the annual conference of ANEF, the Italian national association of cable car operators, in the neighboring conference center.
Within the framework of the public portion of ANEF’s general meeting, the symposium “China – the Challenge” will take place on the afternoon of April 6, 2006. What opportunities open up with the Chinese ski boom, what jobs may need to be done and what possibilities may be offered by European sponsors, service industries, and operators to participate in the meteoric development? Under the overall direction of the renowned winter tourism and winter sports expert Erwin Stricker, top speakers from both Europe and China will examine questions in the economic, legal, and technological areas and will present projects that have already been successfully implemented (ski areas, indoor possibilities, lift facilities, etc.) Among those who are expected are the Vice President of the European Commission, Franco Frattini; the president of the Leitner Group, Michael Seeber; the attorney Renzo Maria Morresi, who is already working with his own branch in Beijing; and, as a European operator, the president of the Val d’Isarco ski lift, Alessandro Marzola. An expert view into Chinese practices will be provided by Martin Bayer, head of the Chinese outdoor clothing label TTISS as well as director of the Yabuli Outdoor Ski Center and an indoor ski stadium near Beijing.
Additional major topics of focus at the ProWinter Forum will be the information campaign “Frauen Powder – sicher am Ski” (“Women Powder – Safety on the Skis”), a reunion with Italian Olympic champions and medal winners, the presentation ceremony of the Europe-wide “Ski Area Tests 2005/2006”, and the panel discussions “40 Years of the Skiing World Cup – Past and Future” and “Peak Sports and Society – From the Olympics to the Workbench” with outstanding athletes such as Christian Ghedina and Armin Zöggeler.

Admission is free of charge to all Alpitec/ProWinter accompanying events (a complete program may be found at www.alpitec.it ).
