IDE’s All Weather Snowmaker
IDE Technologies is a world leader and pioneer in development and construction of water treatment and water desalination plants. Active since 1965, IDE has hundreds of installations in more then 40 countries worldwide.
All Weather Snowmaker is based on IDE’s proven Vacuum Ice Technology (VIM) operating for over 15 years.
All Weather Snowmaker secures reliable snow production throughout the entire ski season.
• Snow production at all ambient temperature
• 100 to 1,000 tons (200 to 2,000 m³) of snow per unit, per day
• High quality, environmentally-friendly snow
• Low operating costs and manpower requirements
• Fully automatic computerized system
• Optional automatic snow distribution system
• VIM can use any typical source of Alpine water for snowmaking.
Principal Process Description
Inside the VIM freezer, water is exposed to high vacuum. The vacuum forces a small portion of the water to evaporate while the remaining water freezes, forming a water-ice mixture. The mixture is pumped from freezer to a snow separator.
Snow Characteristics
Grain size varies from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm (average is 0.8 mm)
Snow specific gravity: 500-600 kg/m³.
